Instrument
Model of guitar or bass: Strat parts guitar (warmoth)
Position: all positions
Pickup being replaced: Whole guitar is a new build
Other pickups on guitar: N/A
Artists using this pickup: N/A
You musical style(s): Just about everything
Reason for pickup change: All my guitars have Bare Knuckle pickups. Already have a warmoth strat with a set of Bare Knuckle Irish Tours which are sounds absolutely brilliant and wanted to build a specific high output "heavy" strat to complete the set.
Sound
Perceived output level: More than twice as high as standard strat pickups
Tone: A little more middly than standard strat pickups, but they do sound just like a strat only bigger, fuller and rounder.
Sonic evaluation: VOX valvetronic 50 watt - warmoth hollow lightweight samp ash body with blocked vintage trem (high grade steel string block).
Sound is super - have had high output strat s/c pickups before and always been disappointed - these are brilliant - the sound is still unmistakably strat but, as said before, much bigger. You can still back them off and be delicate(ish) - the pickup has a much broader style of music usage than I expected.
For which styles and positions is this pickup (un)suitable: All types - very good general purpose/slightly heavy strat sound. Set calibrated for all positions
Overall Rating
Comments: Yes I would replace immediately. Playing for 40 years and building "stratulikes" for quite some time. Have another warmoth strat (hollow hardtail) with Bare Knuckle Irish Tour calibrated set, Gibson SG Special with Bare Knuckle Mule Humbuckers, Epiphone Casino with - wait for it - Bare Knuckle slightly warm P90s. As can be seen - I have Bare Knuckles fitted to all my guitars - quite simply the best brand I have ever come across - sound, service and quality excellent. Very nice people to deal with as well!
On a scale of 1 to 10, I give this pickup a: 10 Fantastic value

Comments: if anything happened to the pups i would probably go to england and collect another set so as to get them quicker.these pups are something special, they are totally hand made and you can really hear the difference.my strat just came to life after using the dimarzio's.the dimarzios are fine but are compromised by their hum cancelling ability.there is so much detail in the sound, every time i record with them i discover something different about them.i convinced that if you want to fully appreciate the difference in pickups you must record yourself, you can then sit and listen properly.it's a waste of time trying to distinguise between pups through a loud amp.the icing on the cake so to speak is that these pups are so quiet even in a computer recording enviroment.whatever hum there is is pretty much negliable and is easy to live with and thats through a high gain amp.check out the manufacturers web site and do yourself a favour,oh and the service is the best i've yet encountered.alltogether an astounding package that'll be so hard to beat.i cant wait to get an Irish tour set now.

Price Paid: £165
Purchased from: Music Live Show at the N.E.C Birmingham. 2003
Instrument
Model of guitar or bass: 2003 American Series Strat
Position: all positions
Pickup being replaced: Stock
Other pickups on guitar: N/A
Artists using this pickup: Any one who bought them !
You musical style(s): Rock/Blues
Reason for pickup change: Stock Fenders are a bit lame in output and tone. Bridge pickup was too harsh for my ears.Have Musicman Luke and PRS guitars and wanted to play with strat live without messing with amp.
Sound
Perceived output level: Pretty high, close to prs and luke very well balanced across the set.
Tone: But stick sound incredibly flute like and hollow like a good strat should. Big fat rock strat sound but with incredible clarity
Sonic evaluation: The above guitar into a VHT Pittbull 50cl head marshall vintage 4x12 with V30 speakers and a Fulldrive2, Crybaby and Rotovibe. These pickups are the best I have ever bought ! Flat out amp and guitar 2" from preakers and still no squeel. The tone is incredible, I have never been able to find high output strat pickups that make your strat still sound like a strat, but these do. Sound great clean but a huge great bid sound when distorted, you loose no clarity at all no mud or mush midrange to cloud cords. Wonderful !!!!
For which styles and positions is this pickup (un)suitable: Rock, Blues from From Purple to Hendrix to Bad Company to Lynard Skynard these do it all with ease, I find myself playing the whole gig and realising I didn't pick up the PRS, never thought that would happen. It's not like the strat with these fitted sounds better than a PRS it just a wonderful sound that gives me the horn.

Comments: Have a second strat that I use for different tunings that is getting a set ASAP. I have been playing and pis***g my money away for 20 years, I now finally have a strat I can sound really good with. You hear so many recordings of strat players with a nice big sound for lead work even with the brdge pickup, still sounding like a strat. After buying EMG, Dimarzio and Seymour Duncan single coils of various models I now have that sound and it is truly something special. FENDER PLEASE FIT THEM AS STANDARD :)
