DXLIB 3.0.0 WHAT DXLIB CAN DO (AND CAN'T DO) -------------------------------- The DXLIB program is currently a DX7/TX7 Librarian and Editor. It loads and stores MIDIEX (a.k.a. System Exclusive or CakeWalk) format files, transfers data between the computer and the DX7/TX7, and allows reorganization or "cataloging" of voices between up to 6 banks at a time. In addition, any voice within any bank may be edited. The DXLIB program is available in two versions, the "registered" and the "unregistered" version. Both operate in the same fashion with a few exceptions: - The unregistered version displays an invocation message that informs the user that the program is unregistered. - The unregistered version's Zorch pull-down menu displays information about registering the program. - Although the unregistered version allows banks to be loaded from disk, it does not allow banks to be stored to disk. - The unregistered version allows the user to edit a voice and listen to the voice while editing, but does not store the edited voice to the current bank upon returning to the Bank Display Screen. - The unregistered version displays an exit message that gives information regarding registration. The unregistered version contains no hidden "time bombs". It does not automatically exit after a given session time, nor does it self-destruct after a few weeks. HARDWARE REQUIREMENTS --------------------- To take advantage of all DXLIB program features, you should have the following hardware: - Yamaha DX7 MIDI Digital Synthesizer and/or TX7 Tone Module, - IBM PC or compatible computer (this includes the Yamaha C1 Music Computer), with at least 512k bytes of RAM, - A MIDI interface that is Roland MPU-401 compatible (this includes Voyetra's and Music Quest's line of MPU compatibles). IRQ is not critical as DXLIB utilizes the MPU's UART, or "dumb" mode, OR a Yamaha C1 MIDI interface (connected to first IN port and first OUT port only), OR a Sound Blaster or Sound Blaster Pro MIDI interface, - CGA or better video card and monitor, - An optional Microsoft, Logitech, Genius, or compatible mouse with its software driver installed.
