Like every wah,if you are not used to it you need to practice a bit...But with time,it's quite easy to use and te make it sound good.I need to change something to it.It has no true bypass so that suxx. There was no manual...

Sound Quality: 9
I use it with a 60's mexican stratocaster. It is noisy on the treble side, especially with distortion but that's not dramatic...I like noise. It sounds always great especially with distortion and chorus. It's noisy and wicked.I've chosen this one over the dunlop 535q because there is no dramatic drop volume with distortion. It always sound great and clean it's really silky and mellow but it can get nasty and weird. It's a really musical wah,for everything heavy or funky stuff(especially for this).I'm using it with a shitty frontman 30w amp but it works great with it.Searching for a good tube amp so i can only assume that it will work even better with a good one. But there's one problem. There's no true bypass and it kills the treble on every electric guitar...I knew this before buying it but i thought it would be easy to get the switch(DPDT) and put it on. Hope i can do that.So i give it a 9 because of that. Anyway, overall,it's a really good product.

Reliability: 5
I think it's quite fragile.I'm saying this because before buying it i tried one,new and suddenly it wouldn't work...It was suposed to be new. But I treat it very nicely, i don't let it getting dust everywhere in the house. You have to be careful with it i think.Anyway,so far i don't have problems with it.Can't give more than 5 because i only have it for 2 months so don't really know how dependable and reliable it can be.

Don't know.

I play everything like hardrock, heavy, prog rock, melodic stuff but funk is really natural to me.This a good wah for that.I've been playing for 3 years.I also own a big muff, small stone phaser and a small clone chorus and searching for a delay...I like it,it's a really good sounding wah pedal but i don't like the fact that is has no true bypass...i compared it with the dunlop q535 and,to me,it has more personality and works well with distortion unlike the 535q so to me the v847 is much better even if t doesn't have true bypass(so no 10 for rating),you can mod it anyway. It's good stuff so it's inspiring of course. I recommend it to true music lovers.

I really like how easy mine is to step on. It turns off and on so easaly. I had an original Crybaby(c) for about a year and the thing was so hard to turn on and off. So here I am now with this paedl and I love it.

Sound Quality: 10
I love the sound quality. I was turned on to the peasel because I saw that Jimmy Page used a Vox. So I started my research and found for the price this was the best Wah I could find. It sounds Awesome

Stepping on mine was always a bit of a pain, you have to do put a certain amount of pressure, and at the right angle. Sometimes I would think it was on and it wasn't. My pedal felt a little stiff at first - I noticed there was some kind of lubricant used on the inside (to ease this? Anyone else notice this?)

Sound Quality: 9
I love the sound of this wah - very inspirational tone with my strat and fender amp. Definitely Hendrix - "Born under a bad sign" comes to mind.
I used it to play funky, scratchy rhythms - worked fine, maybe more fluid-sounding than other pedals - I don't know I haven't used any others besides the one on the Line 6 floorboard which is really quite horrible! But that "fluidity" is what I like most - very silky, smooth, expressive...

Reliability: 5
Well here's the rub - mine is currently broken. I'm really upset about it, have only had for about 8 months. I bought it brand spanking new. I was recording at a studio yesterday and asked if they had one I could use. The studio owner said he had already gone through three of the same model and they had all broken! I don't know, I thought I took care of mine pretty well...I'm going to see about having it fixed, but I'm considering trying something else.

From the reviews on this board I won't even bother...

I've been playing about ten years total now. I own minimal gear, very few pedals. Play rock, blues, afro-beat, trip-hop.
It's cool to create swells with this pedal along with a delay. I also play keyboard, so I like to use the pedal as if I were just sweeping through playing with the cutoff frequency control on a synth. It's great for solos to add that little extra something.
I chose to buy this pedal based on it's sound and reputation. I did not expect it to break at all, it definitely looks and feels extremely rugged. But after all, we've all been told...looks can be deceiving. But what the hell, I say buy it anyway - I'm going to get mine fixed hopefully...

I wish the pedal action were a little smoother. You have to unscrew the bottom plate to replace the battery. I wish the pedal had a bigger physical sweep, it's a bit sensitive even though the range is good. That said, a monkey could use it.

Sound Quality: 9
I'm using a Stratocaster into a pair of tube amps that I've built (and previously an Ibanez Tone Blaster 15). Once I settled down into using the wah, I was at first disappointed. I changed my picking style and the sound I wanted just popped out -- suddenly, I could sound just like Hendrix. It would be cool if the wah effect could be made more subtle, but for that I'll probably just rip out the circuit and rebuild it.

Reliability: 10
It's sturdy, if I were to drop it I'd worry more about the dent I just made in the floor than if the wah still worked. Theoretically the potentiometer might wear out in a few years, I don't know. You could also get dirt in the gear, but this is all speculation.

Never needed customer support.

It adds another dimension to my playing (literally). If I were to lose it, I'd probably replace it with another (eventually).

I had a Vox 847 before and i rated it a 6. the wah sound was really good, i rated it an 8. but i killed my tone when it was off, so i deducted a few points. the one i have now was modded by the previous owner. it has true bypass and a larger sweep. its awesome in comparison to my old stock 847 wah (that i sold). i really dig this one.

i play british rock, jazz, blues (like everyone) and some funk. this really comes in handy with all my music. some may say "jazz never uses a wah..." Well, sometimes i turn on the wah and leave the pedal all the way back so i get a really hollow, mellow, dull sound. its really nice. if it were stolen, id be bummed. i've been looking for a modded vox wah for a long time. i'd probably wait a long time until i had enough money for a budda or teese. maybe i'd run across another modded vox wah. i'm not sure. i'm just gonna hope that that doesnt happen.

It's a wah. Plain and simple, no knobs or so.

Sound Quality: 9
I'm using a Yamaha RGX420S guitar with the Marshall MG250 amp I recently bought. The sound is incredible. Whereas Dunlop goes 'wwwNOISESCREEKKKK' the Vox goes *waaaahhhhh*. It really cries. I'm still working on finding a more GENTLE sweep out of it. It's possible, no doubt, just takes more practice. But in case you want a REAL crying wah sweep, I suggest you buy this baby.
THis one is currently an essential part of my tone, and I wouldn't trade it for another wah pedal.
This is regardless the best wah-pedal I've come across, but then again, there are many many more of them. Also, I'd believe there IS a better wah out there.
For me, it's a ten, but since there are always better ones: 9.

Reliability: N/A
I've had it for a week and it works :)

Okay, without joking, I believe this baby could take a good bombing and still be in one piece.

I won't rate it for now.

Never dealt with 'em. Probably never will.

I mostly play funk and rock. Vox does it all for me, I couldn't ask for more. Simple. Up till now I had to play with a crappy Zoom multieffect wah, this is a whole lot better (surprise) but to my astonishment, Vox beats the shit out of any Dunlop out there. I tested them all out and fell in love with this one. The sound is awesome...

HOWEVER
!!! Two minuses for Vox however !!!
1. It isn't true bypass; it eats some signal from the tone. But then again, I've heard it's possible to fix it on your own easily.
2. There is no AC outlet and it eats 9v batteries, so get yourself rechargeables.

If it were broken or lost, I'd try a Vox with true bypass and an AC outlet. Other than that, no complains.

8, due to the faults.

Very easy, the usual wah thing. Just step down on it until you feel the click and it's on. Rock it up and down you get the effect. Do the same step down and click it off.

Sound Quality: 10
My set up usually is Vox wah,Rat distortion,Boss delay unit, and Line 6 modulation unit. Sound quality of the Vox wah is the best, none other like it. I'm using a Yamaha G-100 2x10 combo. You can get vintage Santana sounds, Robin Trower, Clapton, Neal Schon etc.

Reliability: 10
You can depend on it. You would have to try to break it.

I play inspirational contemporary Christian music. My influences are Rock,Jazz,R&B,and early fusion. Ive been playing for 37 years and received my first Vox wah when I was sixteen, had it for nearly twenty years before it got stolen. Ive owned the Cry baby but they "bite". Bad pot story with Dunlop. I repaired it with a new pot and gave it to a freind as a gift. I've tried several types of wahs but this one in my opinion is the ultimate wah. Just the right amount of sweep.

It's a Wah Wah pedal Stupid, How hard is it?

Sound Quality: 9
I run This Through A Fender Stage 185 amp Then a VOX Wah wah, Soon to be a Danelectro Tremolo pedal (I won it on Ebay), a Bass Crybaby Wah (to get a lower wah), Then My Guitar, A red Lyle Semi-hollow body Archtop From the 60's or 70's (I don't Know). I get A complete Recreation Of Hendrix With this pedal(Because Hendrix Used a Vox Wah NOT A CRYBABY!) I don't Understand Why Dunlop made a Hendrix Wah, I played It, it dosn't Come close to My Vox Wah wah! It is a very strong Wah. I used it in My school talent Show and I got the best wah ever. Sadly, I forgot what setting I used on my amp to get that tone...

Reliability: 8
It's My Only Wah Of course I can Depend on it.
But, Sometimes it will screech at me for no reason but hey, I got it at Pawn 1 Whatdo you expect?

It's a wah. Plug in one side run out the other. The ac jack Jon has installed along with the ac jack out to power other pedals is a God send.

Sound Quality: 10
Jon has taken everything good about a Vox wah and made it shine. I have the pedal with all the top quality stuff, like the hard to get goodies and all the nos components, which would be a vast improvement over a stock Vox all by itself. But the mods he has put in are just outstanding! First of all he installed an ac jack so no more batteries. Then he put in another jack so you can power up your other pedals and ran them both through a noise filter. If you have used a Vox wah then you know all about the noise. Jon's pedal is unbelievably quiet. No scratchy stuff, no hiss, nothing but the effect, and it quiets your whole pedal chain as well. He also installed a nice led at the top of the pedal so just in case you drift off you can check if it's still on. The sound is just perfect. His mods bring out all the subtle little tone changes in the Vox. It's a very complex bag of sounds in there, and even though I have played Vox for years I really had to pay attention to my playing as well as my foot action in order to get everything out of it. And there is a whole lot to get out of it. If you use a wah for something more than just an up and down effect you are going to love it! The damn thing makes you play better. It really growls when pushed and is extremely expressive played clean. Jon also managed to soak off that annoying high end piercing Vox peadls are famous for. My favorite thing about it is when you are really playing loud and overdriven it will deliver all kinds of over and undertones on bent notes that are always changing with how and what you are playing. Very surprising and really fun.

I've only had a little while but it feels solid to me.

Jon is just a super guy! He put up with every one of my annoying emails and was always extremely helpful and cool. He even gave me some help and excellent advice on a reverb project I was struggling with. You will not find a cooler guy to deal with. I ABSOLUTELY MEAN THIS. THE GUY IS GREAT.

Overall Rating: 10
If you are into wahs and you love a vox pedal buy Jon's V847 mod. You will definitely not be dissapointed. I love evrything about it, and it looks cool like all Vox stuff.

couldn't be any easyier...click and wah away.

Sound Quality: 9
great...this is a true wah. it has every thing a wah should have, it kicks all the other wahs in the teeth (including that legendary cry-baby). with the right you rythm you can play great tunes between hendrix and alice in chains. only thing i had a problem with is that it has no true bypass (which you've probably heard enough), its no big deal though...either get in installed, rig it your self (which may not be the best way to go)....run it through a different connection and frequency.

Reliability: 10
outstanding...like all other wahs...its built like the hunk of steal it is. though i wouldn't recommend try to prove it wrong.

never need it

Overall Rating: 10
( you probably don't want to hear this next stuff ...but they told me to put it in) i play hard rock, mostly aic...quite a bit more too though...and this pedal matches me well. been playin for a bit over 2 years (i'm 16). i own an ibanez rg170..who doesn't...(i'm lookin in to gettin a G&L Invader though) a DOD stereo phaser, peavey bandit 75 (no-transtube), and a crapy digi-tech x-series synth wah.
...anyway i'd highly advise getting this wah, theres no other that really compares to well to it...unless its one of them endorsed ones that price over $130 usually.
