Arboretum Announces Support for SGI, AudioParc

September 26, 1997 -- Arboretum Systems today announced the development of audio signal processing products for Silicon Graphics workstations. In an announcement made during the 103rd AES Convention at Javits Center in New York, Arboretum indicated that they will be making effects plug-ins for Steinberg's new AudioParc post-production system, which runs on SGI machines.

Arboretum's initial AudioParc-compatible product will be an SGI version of their Hyperprism digital effects package. Already in wide use on the Mac and Wintel platforms, Hyperprism is a collection of more than two dozen audio effects which feature dynamic, real-time gestural control over the effect parameters. Hyperprism's unique Blue Window interface provides intuitive graphic control over the settings for each audio process, and permits instant automation of parameter changes. Arboretum's Hyperprism offers a truly creative alternative to the "set-it-and-forget-it" knobs and sliders found in typical software effects.

Arboretum has long supported Steinberg's Cubase VST plug-in standard, and views the migration of VST to the SGI platform as a unique opportunity to offer more power to the high-end user.

"We're genuinely excited about AudioParc, we've long wished for higher bit depths and sample rates, plus the type of graphic interface, digital video support and networking that AudioParc represents," says Arboretum founder Georges Jaroslaw. "We believe that AudioParc will be a great choice for audio post-production professionals."

Kord Taylor, Audio Markets Manager at Silicon Graphics said: "Silicon Graphics is extremely happy to have Arboretum on-board as a Silicon Graphics audio developer. They have the ability to do some amazing things on our platform when you consider their main expertise is combining expert audio processing and innovative user interfaces. Great graphics and great sound are some key ingredients in our new systems and I look forward to Arboretum helping to bridge these areas to enable the next generation of creative audio tools."
