Audio-Technica ATM87R and ATM89R Microphones
September 26, 1997 -- Audio-Technica announces two new microphones. The ATM87R Hi-SPL Boundary Microphone Designed to excel in kick-drum applications, the ATM87R is a unidirectional condenser boundary microphone. It features a low-profile design for minimum visibility and may be placed in a variety of locations, either in or near a kick drum to produce a range of desirable timbres. Powered via an external 48V DC source, the microphone's ultra-high SPL capability and flat response make this an exceptional microphone for both the studio and stage. The ATM89R Handheld Condenser Microphone The new ATM89R provides smooth, accurate vocal reproduction for studio-quality sound in a live setting. Supplied as a hypercardioid, the ATM89R features an interchangeable element design that permits the use of a number of additional polar patterns, available in cardioid, subcardioid and omnidirectional. The ATM89R's high sensitivity and SPL capability assure excellent performance under all miking conditions, providing distortion free output even in very intense sound fields. Special internal shock mounting eliminates virtually all handling and cable noise, while the microphone's rugged construction makes it a perfect choice for musicians on the road.
