Digidesign Introduces 888/24 I/O Converter for Pro Tools 24
September 26, 1997 -- Today, Digidesign unveiled an all-new audio interface. The 888/24 I/O InterfaceTM provides 24-bit analog to digital conversion for Pro Tools® 24. The 888/24 I/O replaces the 888 I/O InterfaceTM in the Pro Tools product line. In keeping with the industry trend to use higher bit rates in audio production, Digidesign has redesigned the 888 I/O Interface with low jitter 24-bit A/D converters. This new interface allows customers to maximize the 24-bit audio file capability of Pro Tools® 24 for recording, editing, mixing, and mastering purposes. In addition, an enhanced analog design will appeal to Pro Tools customers who demand exceptional sonic clarity. The 888/24 I/O is a full width, 2U rack space interface with 8 analog inputs and outputs, 4 pairs of AES/EBU digital inputs and outputs, a 2 channel S/PDIF input/output pair, a 50-pin peripheral cable connector, and 256x clock input/output connections. Analog inputs and outputs are switchable between +4 dB and -10 dB. The signal to noise ratio and dynamic range exceed -110 dB (A/D, balanced A-weighted). The 888/24 I/O Interface also includes a stand alone mode for use as a high-quality A/D or D/A converter independent of Pro Tools. Available now, the 888/24 I/O interface has a suggested US List Price of $3495.00.
