Digidesign/Focusrite Release D3 Dynamics ProcessorSeptember 26, 1997 -- Today Digidesign announced the release of the Focusrite d3TM Dynamics Processor, their latest collaborative venture with Focusrite Audio Engineering, for Q4, 1997. The Focusrite d3TM software Plug-In is based on the acclaimed Red Range Red 3 Dual Compressor/Limiter, and follows the highly successful release of their Focusrite d2TM software equalizer based on the Red Range Red 2. Discriminating audio professionals are well acquainted with the quality of the Red Range 3. Today, using precision measurement and sophisticated modeling techniques, Digidesign brings that reputation for excellence to the TDM and AudioSuiteTM environments of Pro Tools. The 24-bit d3 can be accessed in two mono or stereo configurations; a combined compressor/limiter and a separate compressor or limiter only. This versatile option is designed for the audio professional who requires the highest level of performance and maximum versatility in a software-based dynamics processor. The look and feel of the d3 emulates the unique appeal of the Red 3, complete with red brushed aluminum panel graphics. Numeric displays offer continuous feedback, high-resolution meters are provided and dynamics settings may be stored for later recall. The Pro Tools platform offers tremendous flexibility. While the user pays only once for the d3 Plug-In, multiple modules may be used simultaneously in the TDM environment, limited only by the available DSP processing capacity of the hardware configuration. In addition, the Focusrite d3 allows file-based processing with AudioSuiteTM and Side-Chain Processing in AudioSuite with PT4.0 or TDM with PT4.1. The d3 Dynamics Processor will be available world-wide from authorized Digidesign resellers at a suggested US list price of $795.00.
