Mackie HR824 Active Studio Reference Monitor

September 26, 1997 -- Mackie Designs announces the new HR SeriesTM HR824 High-Resolution Active Studio Reference Monitor. The active, biamplified HR824 is one of the most accurate near-field monitors available. The HR824 incorporates a compact design with power response so flat that it serves as a completely neutral conductor for any audio signal. These near-field monitors are an excellent choice for professional recording studios, video, audio and post production suites, project recording rooms and any environment where critical listening is a stringent requirement.

These high resolution, active studio reference monitors uses a mass-loaded, resistivity-damped, 6th-order system design employing an 8.75" driver and a mass-loaded passive driver (rear) powered by its own internal active biamplification.

Here's the breakdown*:

  • Low Frequency driver: 8.75" mineral filled, polypropylene cone
  • High Frequency Driver: 1" aluminum dome (damped edge amped metal alloy dome operates as a true piston to 22kHz)
  • Free Field Frequency Response: 39-22kHz +- 1.5dB
  • Maximum peak SPL per pair with music at top of console at 1 m: >121dB
  • Rated Power Output: 150w/woofer, 100w/tweeter
  • Electronic Limiter Section (Independent Low and High frequency limiting to prevent overload)
  • Acoustic Space Switch (Full space, 1/2 space, 1/4 space)
  • Electronic Crossover Type: Linkwitz-Riley 24dB/octave
  • Balanced female XLR and 1/4" input connectors
  • Power switch on front
  • Dimensions/Weight: 15-3/4" x 10" x 12"; 30 lb.
