Power Technology's DSP*FX Virtual Provides Professional Quality Software Plug-Ins for PC DAW Users

September 26, 1997 -- San Francisco: Power Technology, makers of the DSP*FX PC-based effects processing system, has announced the introduction of the DSP-FX Virtual product line, PC DAW-compatible software versions of their award-winning effects algorithms.

DSP*FX Virtual utilizes exactly the same 32 bit floating point algorithms and the same easy-to-use innovative graphical interface used in Power Technology's hardware-based systems, and packages them in a pure software form for use with all PC DAW systems, including Cakewalk Pro Audio, Sound Forge, Cubase VST, and SAW+32. The initial version of DSP*FX Virtual includes eight effects plug-ins: Reverb, Stereo Pitch Shift, Analog Tape Flanger, Multi-Element Chorus, Multi-Tap Delay, Parametric EQ, Auto Pan, and Auto Tremolo. Additional effects Plug-Ins, including compression, noise reduction, time compression/expansion, and many others are planned for future release. DSP*FX Virtual supports Microsoft's Direct-X software interface, the emerging standard method for integrating effects processing packages into PC DAW systems. DSP*FX Virtual also includes support for a direct interface to IQS's powerful SAW+32 package. These interfaces allow DSP*FX Virtual Plug-Ins to be employed in many useful configurations in a typical PC DAW system, including processing of an individual track, processing of a sub-mix of many tracks, or processing the final master output tracks. Unlike other plug-in packages, DSP-FX Virtual also comes with the capability to directly process and re-record individual Wave format files without requiring an additional PC DAW software package.

A major advantage of both DSP-FX Virtual and the entire DSP*FX product line is that the quality of processing, user interface, and presets are identical and fully compatible across the entire product line. For example, a user of the DSP*FX Virtual software system will get exactly the same audio quality and control features as a user of the multi-card DSP*FX Monolith hardware-based system. In addition, the user can fully exchange user presets between studios, using either software or hardware-based versions of the DSP*FX products.

Mark Kaplan, Power Technology Vice President of Software Development comments, "We've had heavy user requests for a software-only version of our DSP-FX system. We're very excited about being able to provide a system that has the exact same professional audio quality as our hardware products at a very affordable price."

DSP*FX Virtual has a suggested retail price of $599.00.
