Roland Introduces VS-880 CD Recording SystemSeptember 26, 1997 -- Once again enhancing the capabilities of the world's best-selling dedicated digital audio workstation, Roland Corporation is premiering a new hardware/software system which will allow VS-880 Digital Studio Workstation owners to "burn" audio CD's directly from the SCSI ports on their VS-880's. This system means that all steps in the recording process-from initial idea to the final mastered CD-can now be performed in the digital domain with professional Roland VS sound quality and a reliable, intuitive user interface. The basic VS-880 CD Recording System, VS-CDR-S2, offers everything "V-Xpanded" VS-880 owners need to record their own CD's: a JVC-manufactured 6x read/4x write CD recorder, a ZIP disk containing VS-880 CD recording software, CD-R software for Mac's and PC's, a SCSI cable and a blank CD-R disc. "V-Xpanded" VS-880 owners, as well as those who have upgraded their original VS-880's with VS-880-S1 software, need only install the new CD Recording System software and connect a serial cable to the CD recorder to begin recording their own audio CD's. For musicians, engineers and composers who do not yet own a VS-880 Digital Studio Workstation, all of the above-mentioned CD recording components will also be bundled with a V-Xpanded VS-880 Digital Studio Workstation-providing an extremely powerful and affordable "all-in-one" music production studio, the VS-880CDR. Because all music recording, effects processing and mastering remain in the digital domain, VS-880 CD Recording System users will be ensured of the highest possible sound quality. The sound quality of the VS-880, in fact, has been one of its strongest selling points-shipping over 40,000 units to date. The Roland "V-Xpanded" VS-880 Digital Studio Workstation offers 64 tracks of high-quality digital recording, automated mixing and effects processing (with the optional VS8F-1 Effects Expansion Board) in a compact, table-top hard disk audio workstation. Its intuitive user interface and powerful audio recording and editing features have made it a very popular tool among professional and aspiring musicians, engineers and producers worldwide.
