Steinberg Releases New Plug-Ins for VST, TDM, Wavelab, and DirectX

September 26, 1997 -- Steinberg GmbH, the market leader of music software companies on both the Macintosh and Windows platforms, today announced six new Plug-Ins developed by Steinberg Spectral Designs. Steinberg has developed, established and extended their Plug-In architecture for four different platforms: Digidesign TDM Systems (Pro Tools 4.0), Steinberg WaveLab, Cubase VST for Power MAC and Microsoft's DirectX (the interface formerly known as Active Movie).

Steinberg Spectral Design are well known for beautifully designed user interfaces, intuitive instruments and highest quality of results. The new Steinberg Spectral Design Plug-Ins will be available from Steinberg dealers nationwide during Q4 1997 at a MSRP of US $399.

Free-D presents an exciting 3D Audio simulation which lets you position your audio signals anywhere in the mix. E.g. place the lead vocal not only a little bit further to the right or left but even more precise in the rear, 50cm away, smoothly above your head! Apple's Quickdraw 3D technology Free-D provides you with an easy to use intuitive Interface which does not leave you alone in a *parameter jungle*. Due to the fact that you can automate all parameters, you can let your audio material circulate around your head including altering the distance and elevation - all in REALTIME! Looking back on heavy research of room acoustics Free-D does not effect the quality of the audio source at all. Free-D will be available for VST MAC. For realtime performance a 604 CPU/132 Mhz processor or faster is recommended.

PitchBandit - The new Spectral Design Formant-Pitch correction as implemented in Cubase VST for Windows now available as a Plug-In for WaveLab and DirectX. You can change the formants without changing the pitch and change pitch and formants or keep the formant while pitching. PitchBandit needs a Pentium 166 for Realtime Processing.

ProEQ - This is a HiEnd analog Multiband parametric Equalizer as a Plug-In for WaveLab. This is the HiEnd Tool to shape digital audio with the characteristics of genuine analogue technology without leaving the computer. ProEQ needs at least a 166 Intel Pentium Processor for realtime operation.

Red Valve-It VST MAC - The highly acclaimed Red Valve It Plug-In is in heavy use on quite a number of Digidesign TDM systems. Now it is available for Cubase VST Power MAC as well. Red Valve It VST is a combined Plug-In, the PreAmp and the speaker are assembled into one Plug-In. Red Valve It realizes a real guitar tube preamp with a speaker box. It is the first choice for beefing up already recorded guitar tracks.

DeClipper - This is new from Steinberg Spectral Design. DeClipper gets rid of Digital Distortion/ Clipping. DeClipper restores the damaged part of a recording with amazing quality. DeClipper will be available for VST MAC, WaveLab and DirectX soon.

FreeFilter - A linear phase 1/3-band-Equalizer which goes beyond the possibilities of similar products. Filter curves can be freely modeled and you can even learn" the sound characteristics of your favourite CD and apply to your own material. FreeFilter offers to edit these characteristics and save them as presets. The Frequency Monitor gives visual help to judge filter changes in the spectrum by showing input and/or output signals.
