Waves Releases Windows DSP Bundle for Digital Audio Labs V8

September 26, 1997 -- WAVES LTD., the leading supplier of DSP software for the professional audio and multimedia markets, today announced the Windows DSP Bundle for the Digital Audio Labs V8 workstation for the PC. The new Plug-In bundle will allow V8 owners to run the acclaimed Waves' Plug-Ins: Q10 Paragraphic Equalizer, L1Ultramaximizer, S1-Stereo Imager, C1 Compressor/Gate, TrueVerb room emulator/reverb in real time and with full automation on the V8's DSP Supercharger modules.

The Waves Windows DSP Bundle, which rival dedicated hardware components in audio quality with the flexibility of a software interface, can be dropped onto multiple V8 mixer channels or stacked on a single channel. Realtime processing may be performed on both hard disk tracks and external channels alike, with full dynamic automation of all Plug-In parameters. Also, the same Plug-Ins are available to all V8 "Gearhead Approved" applications, such as MxTrax from Minnetonka Software and Cakewalk Pro Audio from Cakewalk Music Software.

"This is a great break through for PC users. Realtime DSP Plug-Ins was previously only available on very expensive Mac systems, now we offer an even more powerful system." said Jeff Wilson, Marketing VP for Digital Audio Labs. "There is no system at double the price of the V8/Waves combination capable of this amount and quality of real time audio processing."

Alon Zacai, Managing Director of Waves, is also enthusiastic about the new platforms possibilities; "As Waves established itself on the Pro Tools platform, we received many requests from PC users for our Plug-Ins. More and more audio professionals are recognizing the affordable power of the PC but multiple DSP systems weren't available. With the V8, we're finally able to bring real time, multichannel audio processing to our PC based customers."

The V8 is a set of cards and rack mount peripherals that turns a PC into a multichannel digital audio recording, editing, and mixing studio. A fully loaded V8 system is capable of up to 16 channels of disk playback, 16 channels of I/O, and over 300 MIPS of DSP processing. Software to operate the V8 is available entirely from third party application and Plug-In developers. System pricing for the V8 starts at $2500.

Digital Audio Labs, located in Plymouth Minnesota, manufactures professional audio production hardware for the PC. Their CardD and V8 families of products are used in recording studios, audio and video production facilities, and radio and TV stations.

The Waves DSP bundle for Windows for the Digital Audio Labs V8 workstation is now available at Waves dealers worldwide for US$2300.
