New M20 Professional Recorder Accessories Now AvailableSeptember 26, 1998 -- Three companion products designed specifically for use with the Alesis M20 Professional 20-Bit Digital Audio Recorder are now available at Alesis professional audio and broadcast dealers worldwide. The CADI (Controller Autolocator Desktop Interface) is a remote control system for the professional recorders, the RMD (Digital Remote Meter Display) offers 32 meters to monitor up to four M20 simultaneously, and the EC-1 is an affordable 8-channel interface card for facilities requiring AES/EBU compatibility.
The CADI (MSRP $1499) offers all the controls found on the front panel of the M20, including the jog/shuttle wheel. It can connect up to eight M20s for a total of 64 tracks (plus time code and eight Aux tracks). This new interface allows much longer cable runs between remote and the recorders allowing remote control from hundreds of yards away.
Like the CADI, the RMD (MSRP $799) also serves to facilitate remote operation of an M20 system. The RMD provides 32 meters for monitoring up to four M20s at the same time. Special features include adjustable Peak Mode and Peak Clear and a special fine metering mode to set levels remotely with 0.2dB accuracy. Eight LEDs on the front panel indicate error conditions or tape dropout problems.
The EC-1 (MSRP $699) is an 8-channel AES/EBU interface card that provides a digital interconnect to M20 in addition to the ADAT Optical port. It features eight XLR connectors: four stereo pair AES/EBU inputs and four stereo pair AES/EBU outputs that can be connected to digital video decks, digital mixing consoles, or external converters which use the AES/EBU standard.
