DK Audio Releases MSD600C Surround Meter

September 26, 1998 -- DK Audio is pleased to announce the MSD600C MKII now available with multi-channel Surround Sound monitoring. The multi-channel discrete metering and analysis features provided by the MSD600 are ideally suited for use in surround sound applications, according the Ed Simeone, Managing Director of DK Audio's U.S. distributor, TC Electronic.

The MSD600 combines a Phaser Meter, Surround Audio Vectorscope and multi-channel Peak Program Meter in a compact (7" x 5" x 1.7") self contained unit. Using the latest in color display technology, all models in the MSD600 range feature enhanced brightness and contrast ratio along with an industry standard VGA output.

MSD600 meters are available in 2, 4, 6, and 8 channel versions. Surround Sound software enables the user to select a "Jelly-Fish" image on the display instead of the normal vector oscilloscope image, to indicate Surround Sound signal information. In addition, a built-in pseudo-surround decoder permits the monitoring of surround audio signal while viewing through the MSD600C's color LCD or VGA output.

An optional FFT spectrum analyzer features an incredible 1024 points and lets you zoom right in on any frequency response problems you want to observe all the way down to 5Hz. It includes a white , pink, sine and burst generator with balanced analog outs.

DK Audio Master Displays are standard equipment on Solid State Logic^TM and Studer^TM consoles, and optional on Euphonix^TM and other fine mixers.

The MSD600C/MKII is a state of the art combined phase meter, audio vector oscilloscope and level meter designed to visually represent stereo and multichannel audio program material making the display an ideal tool for recording, monitoring broadcast audio or surround mixing. The display is capable of operating in both analog and digital (AES/EBU and SPDIF) mode with each pair of audio channels individually selectable regardless of source. Retail prices begin at $3445.
