ENSONIQ Introduces PARIS Concept and PARIS Concept-FX

Two New Entry-Level PARIS Systems Deliver High Performance with Unlimited Upgrade Path

September 26, 1998 -- EMU-ENSONIQ proudly announces ENSONIQ's PARIS(R) Concept and PARIS Concept-FX-two new entry-level digital audio recording systems that allow users to enter the world of PARIS at an affordable price, with no compromise in sound quality, features, or upgrade path. Both PARIS Concept nd PARIS Concept-FX systems run on either the PC or MAC platform, and come with the same software that ships with the larger PARIS systems. This is not a "lite" version. PARIS software allows users to record and edit 16 tracks of 16-bit or 24-bit digital audio, plus play back and mix up to 128 tracks using the unique Intelligent SubMixing feature.

PARIS Concept includes the EDS-500 PCI card, the Interface 2 two-channel audio interface (which offers 20-bit A/D with 128 X's oversampling, 20-bit D/A, plus two pairs of TRS 1/4" connectors), and the renowned PARIS application software for both MAC and PC. PARIS Concept-FX includes the EDS-1000 PCI card, the Interface 2 two-channel audio interface and the PARIS application software.

Both PARIS Concept and Concept-FX include special versions of Steinberg's Wavelab Lite (waveform editing software for PC), and BIAS Peak LE (waveform editing software for MAC).

PARIS Concept and Concept-FX offer powerful, easy to use, non-destructive editing with 99 levels of Undo/Redo. The unique "context sensitive cursor" lets users easily trim or move Audio Objects and apply crossfades quickly, without having to constantly change editing tools. PARIS Free Form Mode supports 999 virtual tracks, which is an ideal way to record, edit and compile multiple vocal or instrument takes. Both PARIS Concept and Concept-FX supply a professional 24-bit mixer with features you would expect to see on expensive hardware mixers. Features like 64 bands of real-time parametric EQ (that's 4 bands per mixer channel), panning, solo in place, channel muting, all EQ "on/off", channel phase inversion, numeric and graphic headroom indicator LEDs, control room monitor gain with dim/mute, real-time automation with graphic editing window - plus, the ability to run 3rd party Direct-X and VST plug-ins. Powerful, non-destructive DSP functions like gain change, normalize/super normalize, polarity inversion, sample rate conversion, time compression/expansion and pitch shifting are also provided.

PARIS Concept-FX, (as its name implies), delivers a complete selection of realtime, 24-bit effects including compression, expansion, gating, chorus, delays and reverbs. All PARIS effects come with a full selection of presets, and an unlimited number of custom effect presets can be stored as well. PARIS effects can be assigned freely to any of the 8 stereo aux busses, or to individual channel inserts available in the Mixer Window.

PARIS Concept and PARIS Concept-FX can be expanded into larger PARIS systems by adding PARIS hardware components that are available separately.

The Control-16 hardware mixing control surface plugs directly into the Ethernet connector found on the back of the PARIS EDS PCI card, providing instant hardware control over mixing, transport, locator and project management functions. Optional hardware interfaces can also be added to the PARIS Concept systems, like the Interface 442, featuring four TRS ins and outs, SPDIF and word clock. Or the Interface MEC, that can be populated with multiple expansion options like 24-bit 8 input and output modules, and ADAT Interface and SMPTE and AES/EBU interfaces.
