Hafler® Debuts TRM6 Active Monitor Speaker System

September 26, 1998 -- Hafler(R), the leader in amplifiers for the studio, post production, broadcast and audiophile markets, is introducing the TRM6, the newest addition to its popular Active Monitor Speaker System at the 105th AES Convention, held from September 26 to 29 at the Moscone Convention Center in San Francisco, Booth 276. Based on the same quality performance as the industryacclaimed TRM8, the TRM6 two-way bi-amplified active speaker system is being offered at the incredible price of just $1,399 a pair, making it a must for the recording studio owner, producer or engineer or as an ideal on-the-road monitoring system for the tour mixer.

"Designed around the same demanding principles of our award winning TRM8, the TRM6 has been engineered to deliver state-of-the-art sound quality, but in a smaller package and at a lower price point," says Jerry Cave, managing director for Hafler. "We've matched Hafler's Trans*ana amplifier technology to a two-way speaker system to provide the ultimate in sound, reliability and flexibility."

After its phenomenal success following its launch at last year's AES Convention in New York, many top industry professionals, including David Was, Bernie Grundman, Bruce Swedien and Roger Nichols, are using TRM8s as astandard in their studios for various projects and, in the case of Robert Scovill, is using the system in both his home studio and on the road with Matchbox 20 as the tour's front of house mixer. Now, Hafler's TRM6 combines the TRM8's sonic superiority in a package most any industry professional can afford.

The TRM6 is magnetically shielded, is based on Hafler's superior Diamond Series Trans*nova amplifier technology, and is designed to fill the monitoring needs of music recording studios, film and video post production houses, professional and home surround sound applications, remote trucks and mastering facilities. The TRM6 is a bi-amped, two-way system offering a free field frequency response of 55Hz to 21kHz, +/-2dB. The peak acoustic output per speaker pair using music as a sound source at 1m is 120dB or greater, accommodating the ever-growing dynamic range needs of digital audio playback.

The TRM6's total harmonic distortion is 100Hz to 21kHz (90dB at 1m on axis). The TRM6 incorporates a 1-inch soft dome tweeter high frequency driver and a 6 1/2-inch polypropylene cone low frequency driver. The front panel includes a POWER/ CLIP/ THERMAL LED display. The rear panel has a combination XLR 1/4-inch input jack, RCA input jack, unbalanced /balanced DIP switch, input sensitivity DIP switches, tweeter/woofer mute DIP switches, bass and treble shelving DIP switches, IEC standard line input/AC line fuse.

"We expect this new active monitor system to become yet another industry standard for Hafler," Cave says.
