Lucid Technology Expands Line with AD9624 and DA9624 Converters

September 26, 1998 -- Lucid Technology expands its line of affordable interface components by introducing two audio converter designs at AES '98. The AD9624 analog-to-digital converter and the DA9624 digital-to-analog converter each provide 24-bit conversion for recording, mastering or post-production systems. Both two-channel units also offer 96kHz conversion for maximum sampling bandwidth. "With the AD and DA9624 converters, Lucid provides state-of-the-art performance at a price well within reach of any project studio," notes Steve Kawasaki, Director of Sales.

The AD9624 accepts input via XLR connectors. Twenty-segment LED ladders with pea hold guide input level settings. The AD9624 delivers 24-bit A/D conversion at internally generated sample rates of 32kHz, 44.1kHz, 48kHz, 88.2kHz and 96kHz along with external sync via word clock. Users may select 16-bit noise shaping on the S/PDIF and AES-3 outputs. Digital output flows simultaneously through AES-3, S/PDIF coaxial and TOS-LINK optical connections.

The DA9624 receives digital input through AES-3, S/PDIF coaxial and TOS-LINK optical connections. Digital-to-analog conversion occurs at 24-bit resolution, which users can monitor via a separate headphone line out. Twenty-segment LED ladders guide output level settings. Analog output is delivered through XLR and 1/4" connections for interfacing with balanced or unbalanced equipment.

Both the AD9624 and the DA9624 are housed in a half-rack sized chassis so that they can be mounted side-by-side in a standard 1U rack space.
