Metric Halo Labs Introduces SpectraFoo Radical-3 at AES

September 26, 1998 -- Metric Halo Laboratories will introduce a major revision to its SpectraFoo Visual Audio Monitoring System at the 105th AES Convention in San Francisco. The new SpectraFoo Radical-3 is a low latency, fully real-time FFT-based audio analysis and visualization tool that runs on Macintosh PowerPC compatible computers and is compatible with the leading workstation software packages.

According to Joe Buchalter, President of Metric Halo Labs, "We created SpectraFoo in response to our own needs as a working recording studio. Since we introduced the product we have received many insightful suggestions from our world-wide user base and have spent many hours translating them into SpectraFoo Radical-3."

Building upon the comprehensive set of audio metering instruments that SpectraFoo already provided, SpectraFoo Radical-3 adds:

  • Dual channel modes for Spectrum analyzers and Oscilloscopes
  • Real-time Impulse Response Measurement
  • Transfer function overlay snapshots (including invertible overlays)
  • Measurement of acoustical parameters
  • Offline room analysis
  • Multi-capture data slicing and comparisons
  • Signal generator
  • Level logging
  • Correlation and Correlation History meters
  • Support for the Sonorus ADAT card
  • Total recall of system configuration snapshots
  • Flexible instrument linking
  • Copy/Paste of instrument parameters
  • Adjustable instrument orientation.
  • Over logging
  • Saving in Sound Designer II format
  • Automatic assembly of Split Stereo files
  • User selectable PPM standards (UK, EBU, DIN, ANSI, Nordic PPM and IEEE VU)
  • Physical unit calibration
  • Sum/Difference monitoring for all instruments

According to Dr. Benjamin Buchalter, co-founder and principal Software Architect for Metric Halo Labs, "SpectraFoo Radical-3 has been optimized for solving real world production problems. It builds upon our proven analysis and metering technology and now provides highly sophisticated workflow management features that are easy to learn and simple to use."
