September 26, 1998 -- Opcode Systems of Mountain View, CA, announces a major upgrade to the company's flagship audio and MIDI production software, Studio Vision Pro. Version 4.1 includes all of the features found in Opcode's recently released Vision DSP, including full support for Steinberg's VST(TM) real-time plug-in architecture. These new features allow users to switch between supported audio hardware and Opcode's Arcadia audio engine so as to take advantage of audio plug-ins which are available only in VST format.

"Studio Vision 4.1 provides users with the widest range of options available for audio and MIDI production," comments Chris Halaby, President of Opcode Systems. "For instance, a song which begins production using Digidesign's Pro Tools/24 hardware can now be worked on outside the studio using our extensive VST support. This is a great benefit for musicians who often travel or work on multiple systems."

In addition to full support for Pro Tools/24 as well as other audio hardware from Digidesign, Sonic Solutions and Yamaha, Studio Vision 4.1 also includes Opcode's patented Audio-to-MIDI(TM) and MIDI-to-Audio(TM) DSP technology. This allows users to transform audio tracks into MIDI information so that they can be edited using Studio Vision's formidable MIDI editing tools. Once editing is complete, the track can be transformed back into digital audio, retaining all of the edits which occurred while it was in MIDI form.

Support for a wide range of inexpensive audio cards is also included through compatibility with Steinberg's ASIO software standard. Among the cards currently supported are: Lexicon's Digital Studio, Korg's 1212I/O, Lucid's PCI 24, Sonorus' STUDI/O and numerous others. Studio Vision 4.1 has an MSRP of $995 and will be available as a free upgrade to all registered owners of Studio Vision 4.0. The upgrade should be available in November.
