Arboretum Previews Hyperprism 2.5September 30, 1999 -- Arboretum Systems is demonstrating new real-time sound processing technologies today at the Audio Engineering Society conference in New York. Arboretum's forthcoming Hyperprism 2.5 software for Power Macintosh computers includes the following innovative new real time processes: Granulator - An aggressive, adventurous effect as only Arboretum can do them. Imagine chopping up your audio into lots of tiny pieces, rearranging it in interesting ways and spewing it out the other end. User controls the grain size, randomization and speed as well as density and spread. It's like a sonic food processor. Formant Pitch Shift - An entirely different technology from time-based pitch shifting, offering a more natural sounding result. Real time formant shifting also allows the creation of some very unusual effects, allowing one to virtually change the size of the singer's head and throat. Pitch shift and formant shift in are adjusted in semitones. HyperPhaser TM -This unique "modulated filtering" effect has eight separate resonant filters, configurable as either band pass or band reject, all under LFO control. The name derives from its sound, reminiscent of a flanger or phaser. Hyperprism 2.5 also includes the Harmonic Exciter, Bass Maximizer and Tube/Tape Saturation effects as found in Arboretum's Hyperprism Plug-in Pack 1.5.5. Built especially for electronic music production, film/video, broadcast and multimedia sound design, Hyperprism is a stand-alone program offering more than forty different audio processes - a virtual rack of effects - which can be "played" much like any musical instrument. Hyperprism's distinctive Blue Window(TM) permits easy gestural control of every effect parameter. Change the resonance and cutoff of a filter, or the mix and regeneration of a reverb simultaneously, with a single mouse movement. Hyperprism 2.5 remembers and replays every mouse gesture, so you can create sounds which incorporate dynamic, evolving parameter changes, sounds that change and mutate in real-time, effects which seem to dance with the music. Hyperprism 2.5 includes Arboretum's exclusive HyperEngine recording/editing/playback engine and features a real-time analog-style Vocoder for classic funk, rap, and robotic vocal effects. Arboretum's exciting HyperVerb(TM) offers strikingly realistic reverb and ambience simulation. Other Hyperprism modules include the Frequency Shifter, the Z-Morph(TM) talk box effect, soft-knee Compressor, a professional Limiter, tape style Vari-Speed pitch shifter and Doppler effect. Hyperprism 2.5 runs on Power Macintosh computers, 120 MHz minimum, 200 MHz suggested, with no additional audio software or hardware required. Hyperprism 2.5 does not include the plug-in versions of Hyperprism, which are available separately and in combined packages for platforms including Pro Tools AudioSuite and TDM, VST, DirectX and Adobe Premiere plug-in formats. Scheduled for October 1999 release Hyperprism 2.5 has a suggested retail price of $299.00, international pricing may vary. For more information, contact Arboretum at www.arboretum.com.
