BIAS Debuts Peak 2.1 and Deck 2.7

Includes ASIO sound card support

October 2, 1999 -- Berkley Integrated Audio Software, Inc. (BIAS) unveiled new versions of both Peak, their highly-acclaimed stereo waveform editor, and Deck, their award-winning multitrack digital audio workstation software. Both programs now support any ASIO-compatible sound card, including the MOTU 2408/1224, Event Layla/Gina/Darla, E-mu APS, Digidesign Pro Tools Project II and Audio Media III, Sonorous STUDI/O, Yamaha DSP Factory, Lexicon Core 2, and RME DIGI Series.

ASIO support was originally planned to be included with VST plug-in support in the upcoming next generation of both Peak and Deck, which are presently in development. However, it was later decided to release ASIO versions of Peak and Deck ahead of time. "A large number of our customers have invested in ASIO hardware because it's very affordable and there are so many choices out there," said Steve Berkley, President and CEO of BIAS. "We wanted our customers to be able to take full advantage of their ASIO hardware with our software right now, so we decided to release the ASIO versions ahead of time."

In addition to ASIO support, Peak 2.1 includes some additional enhancements. Peak 2.1 now supports sampling rates up to 10 MHz, well above the 96 kHz that is becoming more common today. Peak 2.1 also enables users to record audio into an existing audio document. Regions can now be exported through the batch file processor, and dual mono files can be exported automatically.

Pricing and Availability Upgrades from Peak 2.0 to 2.1 and Deck 2.6 to 2.7 are free. Upgrade pricing from older versions is available on the BIAS Web site. Peak 2.1 and Deck 2.7 will be available October 1st through the network of authorized BIAS dealers and distributors.
