JBL Introduces LSR25P Monitoring System
September 28, 1999 -- Building upon the JBL LSR Series studio monitors, JBL Professional today introduced the LSR25P monitoring system expressly designed to provide multimedia and digital audio workstation users with the same high performance monitoring in smaller environments as the JBL LSR32 and LSR28P provide for larger production environments. Featuring many of the technologies that have made the JBL LSR Series so successful, including an advanced metal-domed HF driver and JBL's low frequency transducer technologies, the JBL LSR25P establishes an entirely new standard for multimedia, audio-for-video and edit room monitoring. The new JBL LSR25P assures facility-wide implementation of JBL LSR technology, standardizing playback environments throughout larger multi-room facilities regardless of room size. This allows for the accurate translation of a mix from the original dub stage through each phase of productionand post production. The JBL LSR25P offers virtually distortion-free operation even at the highest operating levels while offering full-frequency performance from 60 Hz to 20 kHz +/- 2 dB with a low frequency extension of 55kHz at -10 dB and a 2.3 kHz 4th order electroacoustic Linkwitz-Riley low-high frequency crossover. LSR25Ps retail at under $400.00 each. "Up to this point, desktop post production, edit rooms and other multimedia users have had to work with audio monitoring systems designed for other applications rather than a system tailored to their needs," explains Michael MacDonald, President, JBL Professional. "Now, the LSR25P for the first time offers professionals working in smaller rooms an integrated monitoring system that delivers the same dynamic performance that the JBL LSR32 and the LSR28P deliver in larger studio environments. "The LSR25P benefits engineers in larger facilities because now there is a standardized playback environment throughout the facility. It benefits owners because the LSR Series creates an affordable scalable amplitude monitoring system that delivers the same high performance in each of the facility's different environments. This benefits the project recordist because now LSR-quality monitoring is available at a price point they can afford," MacDonald continued. Scalable amplitude monitoring, as defined by JBL Professional, is based on volume/distance ratio and is the ability of a standardized monitoring system to provide a monitor with the appropriate SPL level for different sized listening environments. The monitors of JBL Professional's LSR Series deliver the same basic amplitude performance when each is used in the appropriate environment. The end goal being that the mix will sound the same in each of the different environments. Visit JBL on the web at www.jblpro.com.
