The eight-track V-studio concept was nudged into the 24-bit zone as Roland showed its VS-890 Digital Studio at the Messe. Along with its 24-bit A/D and D/A converters, the product offers an eight-track workstation with onboard effects and CD mastering capabilities (with optional Roland CD Recording System), and a CD-RW Mastering button and CD Writing Mode for faster CD burning. With another new digital studio workstation, the VS-840GX, Roland offers a package of features that should appeal to guitarists, songwriters and home recordists, including 128 Virtual Tracks (twice the amount offered by the VS-840EX), COSM Speaker Modeling Technology, .WAV file conversion, and new JamTracks on Zip disk.
