The German company that designed the Synth-A software synthesizer bundled with the M-Audio Lagoon card will soon release Synth-B. This more powerful model is capable of playing up to 11 voices with FX while letting you simultaneously use the S/PDIF, ADAT, MIDI, or Sync interfaces on the card to record or play back audio and MIDI. Synth-B is four-part multitimbral, with two oscillators per voice, each of which has six different waveforms, a noise generator, a ring modulator, a resonant lowpass filter, three LFOs, two envelopes, four FX sends (two overdrives, one flanger, and one delay), and stereo chorus. Every parameter is MIDI-controllable. At $49, the Synth-B represents good value for owners of the Lagoon card. Shipping date will be announced. DSP Arts also previewed another sofware synth at the Messe: the 3-Pulse, with three oscillators. |
