CDX-35

Vestax is launching several new products in hopes of mastering the DJ scene. The CDX-35 is a sleek and expandable CD mixing system with two powerful DSP chips that provide extended buffer memory. This buffer allows DJs to select cue points just as they would while using vinyl. Other features unique to the CDX-35 are reverse play and the ability to change tempo without changing key or vice-versa. The base system comes with one controller that fully controls one CD player and partially controls the second player at the same time. The system can be expanded to include a second controller and up to four CD players. The CDX-35p CD player will retail for around $1000, while the CDX-35c controller will retail for around $850. These items are now shipping.

CDX-15

The Vestax CDX-15 is an update of the CDX-12 with a 10-second buffer memory. The CDX-15 is a complete CD mixing system with built-in mixer and shockproof device to prevent skipping. The tabletop unit also has a joystick for controlling each CD's cue point and pitch bend. The CDX-15 is now available at a retail price of about $1600.

Certainly the most revolutionary piece of DJ related equipment at the Messe was the Vestax VRX-2000 Vinyl Recorder. The machine will cut vinyl records that can be played on regular turntables from any audio source, including radio and MP3. The sound quality and durability of records cut from the VRX will be close but not equal to that of commercially produced vinyl records. When the VRX-2000 is made available this summer, it won't be easy to come by, as the price will be somewhere around $9,000.

As an upgrade to the popular PMC-50, Vestax introduced the PMC-55. It's a four-channel DJ mixer with trim, three-band EQ, and stereo sends and returns per channel. Some of the upgraded features on the PMC-55 include expanded EQ range, a pre/post aux send switch on each channel, selectable output level, separate EQ for mic input, and three switchable inputs per channel, for a total of 12 stereo inputs. The PMC-55 is available now for around $2,100.

Other new Vestax products are the Techno/Trance mixers PMC-170A, available now for about $450, and the PMC-270A, also available now for about $600. The Vestax PDX-2000 is a new professional turntable that will be out this summer for a price around $650. Finally, the Vestax Spincliner is a curious purple turntable that will rotate upwards until it is spinning vertically rather than horizontally. No other information is available on the Spincliner.
