April 14, 2000 -- Emagic is proud to announce Version 3.0 of SoundDiver, the Universal Editor Librarian for both Mac and Windows. With its unsurpassed list of supported devices, the newly-designed user interface, and its seamless integration with Logic Audio, SoundDiver 3.0 is simply the most advanced Editor Librarian for both the Mac and Windows worlds.

Studio Description Language – SDL

SDL is a universal data format for describing entire MIDI studios. SDL documents contain information about MIDI ports, channels, bank and program names of all connected MIDI devices. SoundDiver 3.0 automatically updates the SDL document, and Logic Audio uses it for sound selection by name – even if SoundDiver is not running. In association with the introduction of SDL, the communication with Logic Audio via AutoLink has also been further improved.

New Look and Key Commands

A complete redesign of SoundDiver's graphic user interface is the most visible improvement in Version 3.0. The user interface is now similar to that of Logic Audio 4.0, which makes its operation easy and familiar. A context-sensitive, interactive help system is available any time. The program, as well as its online help and manual, is currently available in English and German. In addition, Version 3.0 includes a new user definable Key Command List. Almost every SoundDiver function can be given a user defined key command and/or remote MIDI command, enormously enhancing speed and work flow.

External Remote Control – Fader Box Support

The most exciting addition to Version 3.0 is the implementation of external remote control by any MIDI device. It allows you to remotely control every parameter of every editor with any MIDI message. Flexible assign modes support faders, rotary knobs, encoders and buttons. With certain fader boxes – e.g. CM Automation Motormix or Radikal Technologies SAC-2k – the current assignments are even shown in the units' displays, and parameter changes are reflected by motor faders, illuminated buttons and encoders. This makes the dream of having only one hardware user interface for all instruments a reality.

Model Support

The list of devices supported by SoundDiver grows to over 500 with the release of Version 3.0, a quantity simply unmatched in today's market. Close cooperation with leading manufacturers ensures that SoundDiver will continue to add more modules and adaptations to the over 720 editors already available. An updated list of supported models is available on Emagic's web site.

Availability and Pricing

SoundDiver 3.0 is scheduled for release in May 2000.
The full version has an MSRP of $199.00
Update pricing for registered Version 2.0 users is $39.00
