April 14, 2000 -- Increased functionality along with a host of in-demand features define WaveBurner Pro, the new, more powerful version of Emagic's Eddy award winning audio CD mastering software.

The integration of mastering plug-ins and support for VST format plug-ins, along with the ability to now directly load and work with even more audio formats, makes WaveBurner Pro the ideal choice for professional use. This is further evidenced through expanded driver support for the use of the broadest possible range of audio hardware devices. The announcement of WaveBurner Pro further exemplifies Emagic's commitment to provide an integrated suite of high quality products that meet the demands of music and audio professionals.

Plug-in support

Thanks to the new plug-in support, audio material can now be further refined in WaveBurner Pro. Plug-ins can be applied to individual regions as well as to the final mix. Any number of plug-ins can be serially inserted, the only limitation being the performance of the CPU. Selected Emagic proprietary plug-ins from the Logic Audio Series will be supported, alongside plug-ins that comply with the VST format.

Integrated mastering tools

The most important mastering plug-ins come already integrated in WaveBurner Pro, e.g. Fat EQ, compressor/limiter, multi-band compressor and audio restoration tools. These superb quality plug-ins can be used not only in a creative way but also, for example, to cleanly remove undesirable noise artifacts from cassette or vinyl recordings. More audio formats

In response to the ever growing popularity of High Definition Audio, the 24 Bit format is directly supported within WaveBurner Pro. This is in contrast to other programs that import this format, but then covert to 16 Bit. WaveBurner Pro therefore allows you to work on the audio in the original bit depth; only at the final Mastering stage is the 24 Bit signal converted to the standard audio CD format via high quality Dithering with noise shaping. As well as AIFFand SDII files and regions, WAV files can now also be directly loaded into WaveBurner for editing. Importing MP3 files is also supported, which means that these files can be downlaoded from the Internet and burnt onto CD via WaveBurner Pro.

Expanded audio driver support

WaveBurner Pro supports ASIO and Direct I/O, in addition to SoundManager and Audiowerk8/2. Owners of hardware compatible with these standards can now also benefit from WaveBurner Pro's feature set.

More functionality

WaveBurner Pro has an even greater choice of edit commands to further refine your work and provides an expanded feature set; for example, not only the master output but also individual regions in different audio formats – with or without plug-ins – can be bounced. A level meter with clipping notice is now also available for use during playback. The user interface has also been optimized, providing even better legibility for Overviews; these are saved along with the audio files.

In addition WaveBurner Pro also offers CDDB Submit Support which means that self-edited CD information can be posted to the Internet CD Databank for worldwide access.
