New Sabian Symphonic, Zodiac, and Chinese Gongs
March 11, 1998 -- Sabian Ltd. is pleased to announce the introduction of three new gongs in a lineup that is designed to provide percussionists and drummers with a comprehensive range of traditional and contemporary sounds.
The traditionally hammered Chinese Gong, in sizes 30", 34" and 40", responds with a predominently oriental sound, with the primary impact response followed by an outpouring of raw, dark overtones. This is a full sounding gong which will deliver the required dynaic impact in virtually any setting. Crafted from a special bronze alloy, the Zodiac Gong, in 22", 24", 26", 28" sizes, is made in the traditional European style. Its response and decay rates are fast, with a direct, punchy and penetrating sound that is primarily a raw response. More an explosion of white noise than musical tone, this effect is highly desirable in many musical settings. Crafted from pure Sabian B20 bronze (80% copper, 20% tin), the Symphonic Gong, available in sizes 22", 24", 26" and 28" produces a powerful and musical fundamental through a wide range of dynamics. This is a tonal sounding cymbal which produces a sturdy fundamental note which is enhanced by harmonic overtones to create a softer, rounder response which is most pleasing for many styles of music.
