Waves DeEsser Multiband Processor Now Shipping

March 11, 1998 -- WAVES LTD., the leading supplier of DSP software for the professional audio and multimedia markets, today announced the DeEsser DSP Plug In is now shipping. The Waves DeEsser is an audio processing software tool for reducing high frequency "ess" sounds in voice or vocal tracks.

Voice recordings, bass guitars and wind instruments can create shrill, high-pitched noises that require compressing in order to produce a cleaner sound output. The Waves DeEsser can be used to creatively compress unwelcome high frequency 's sounds.

Very sharp filters in the side chain component of the DeEsser make it best suited for editing solo vocal takes or instrumentals. Using simple controls and a dynamic user-interface, either a bell or a high-pass filter can be selected from the side chain to isolate specific 's' sounds for attenuation.

The Waves DeEsser has low CPU requirements and results in minimal audio artifacts (such as distortion and feedback). Even so it is possible to apply the DeEsser gently to complete mixes producing excellent results. Factory presets are included for male and female voices, including wide and narrow focus for "ess" and "shh" sounds.

The Waves DeEsser supports the following platforms:

on Mac:
Pro Tools TDM, Pro Tools, AudioSuite, Premiere, SDII (NuBus), Cubase-VST, Peak, WaveConvert Pro, SoundEdit 16, Deck II, Digital Performer 2.1, Logic Audio 3.0, Studio Vision Pro 3.5 and other platforms supporting the Premiere architecture

on PC:
Sound Forge (V4.0 or above), CakeWalk 6.0, Cubase-VST, WaveLab 1.6, CoolEdit Pro, WaveConvert Pro and other platforms supporting the Active-X plug-in architecture.

The DeEsser is available for US$200
