Zildjian Introduces Four New Gong Models
March 11, 1998 -- The Avedis Zildjian Company, the world's largest manufacturer of cymbals, announces the introduction of four new, smaller sized models of gongs to their popular line of genuine, imported Chinese gongs. There are two new 10" diameter model gongs. The 10" Tam Tam Gong features a fully lathed front and rear. It offers a classic gong sound with a clear tone. It is a great add-on for any percussionist and offers a multitude of sounds, depending on how it is played. The second 10" gong is the 10" Boa Gong. This gong is very dark and funky. It is capable of producing many different sounds depending on how it is played. The center nipple produces a bell-like tone, while the box is very tight sounding. It comes with a Natural Black (unlathed) finish with a white Zildjian logo on the front. The third new offering is a 12" Jing Descending Gong. This gong offers a bright and unique tone that descends in pitch as it decays. It is partially lathed in the front and carries a Black Zildjian logo on the front. The 15" Fuyin Descending Gong is a very rich sounding small sized gong. It offers outstanding projection, duration and wash. It also descends in pitch as it decays. It is fully lathed on the front and back. This gong offers a surprisingly full sound for a relatively small instrument. "All of these gongs offer the percussionist a wide range of applications. These have a multitude of application from Drum Corps to the most eccentric World music. I can see these appealing to any drummer or percussionist. Their compact size and large sound make them very attractive in any musical setting" stated Product Manager John Sorenson. For more information, visit their web site at www.zildjian.com.
