Fender Fat Strat

July 12, 1996 -- Fender Musical Instruments has just released the newest version of their best-selling Stratocaster® model electric guitars.

The Fat Strat is a classic Fender design with two single coil pickups and a new Fender Stratbucker® humbucking pickup in the bridge (lead) position.

The new guitar features a solid poplar body available in Black, Red, or Arctic White and a one-piece, Eastern hard rock maple neck with rosewood fingerboard and is equipped with chrome hardware. The suggested retail price of the guitar is $339.99.

"The Fat Strat gives players looking for a more aggressive sound the comfort, responsiveness and feel of a real Stratocaster," said Mike Lewis, marketing manager, Fender Electric Guitars. "We're aggressively pricing the Fat Strat so that beginners and those players looking for a second guitar won't have to compromise quality. It's a cool, straightforward guitar."
