Korg Announces Five Options for Trinity Music Workstations

July 12, 1996 -- Korg USA announces five DRS (Digital Recording System) options for the line of Trinity Music Workstations available through Korg Authorized Service Centers.

The Solo Synthesizer option adds an additional bank of 64 programs derived from Korg's sound-modeling-based Prophecy synthesizer technology. The programs provided by this "S" bank, as it's labeled, can be used in combinations and sequences along with the Trinity's other sounds. The Solo Synthesizer option carries a list price of $500.

A Flash ROM Expansion option adds an 8 Megabyte user area where Korg or Akai S1000 format samples can be loaded via floppy disk. It adds 256 program and 256 combination memory locations, in addition to doubling the number of program locations for the Solo Synthesizer option, bringing that total from 64 to 128. The Flash ROM Expansion option has a list price of $650.

A SCSI option lets the user connect Trinity to an external hard disk. It enables the instrument to read sample data from the hard disk into the Flash ROM option. Programs, combinations, sequences, global data and samples/PCM from Trinity's Flash ROM option can also be stored to a hard disk via the SCSI option. This option has a list price of $450.

An ADAT® Optical Digital Interface option makes it possible to record directly from the Trinity to an ADAT recorder while keeping the signal entirely within the digital domain. The Trinity's Left, Right, 3 and 4 outputs are mapped to the option's 1, 2, 3, and 4 channels, respectively. A work clock input is also provided for proper digital synchronization. The ADAT® Optical Digital I/O option lists for $150.

The Hard Disk Recording option makes it possible to synchronize up to four tracks of material recorded on an external hard drive with Trinity sequences. Since vocals and actual instruments like guitar can now be used with sequenced material, the Hard Disk Recording option overcomes one of the main obstacles inherent in MIDI-based, music workstation design. The option, consisting of a PCB and software, also provides automated mixing capabilities and equalization, two analog audio inputs and an S/P DIF digital I/O. The SCSI interface option is also included with the purchase of the Hard Disk Recording option which features a list price of $660.

Interested parties may contact Korg's Technical Support Department at 516-333-USER (8737) to obtain the name and location of their nearest authorized Korg Service Center. Option installation charges may vary depending upon geographical location and the service centers' hourly rates.
