Fender Releases New Versions of Popular Basses

July 11, 1997 -- By popular demand, Fender Musical Instruments is proud to announce significant enhancements to three of its most popular basses. The American Standard Precision Bass., American Standard Jazz Bass® and Jazz Bass Deluxe are now available with a maple neck option. In addition, the Jazz Bass Deluxe is now available in a fretless version.

"Players' needs are constantly evolving, and we wanted to come up with some variations in tone, look and playability that cover all the desired options for today's bass player," stated Mike Lewis, marketing manager for Fender's electric guitar division. "All three instruments brilliantly capture the spirit of innovation springing from Fender more than 50 years ago when it introduced the electric bass."

Both maple neck versions of the American Standard Precision Bass and American Standard Jazz Bass are available in Lake Placid Blue, Olympic White, Black, Candy Apple Red, Inca Silver and Brown Sunburst. U.S. suggested retail price for both is $949.99.

Color options for the Jazz Bass Deluxe Maple Neck are Black, Crimson Burst, Blue Burst, Antique Burst, Shoreline Gold and Teal Green Metallic. U.S. suggested retail price is $1169.99

The fretless version of the Jazz Bass Deluxe comes in Black, Antique Burst, Shoreline Gold, and Teal Green Metallic. U.S. suggested retail price is $1219.99.
