Otari Shows DTR-8S Pro DAT MachineJuly 11, 1997 -- Foster City, CA-Otari Corporation is pleased to announce the arrival of the DTR-8S professional DAT machine. The DTR-8S incorporates all the features of its predecessor, the DTR-8, along with the added capability of monitoring input signal without the need to have a DAT tape in the unit. This full-featured, ruggedly built recorder carries a suggested retail price of $1,395.00 (US) putting it within reach of any home or project recording studio. The DTR-8S has +4 dBu (-10 dBV switchable) active balanced analog I/0 with XLR type connectors and has both AES/EBU and S/PDIF digital I/0. In search mode, the DTR-8S uses TOC information from tape to locate up to 300 times normal play speed. 48 kHz, 44.1 kHz and 32 kHz sampling rates are switchable from the front panel for maximum flexibility in professional environments. Other Otari standard features are an hour meter to help schedule maintenance, rack mount adapters, wireless remote control, parallel remote control capabilities.
