Alesis Announces Lower Prices for ADAT Type II Recorders
July 10, 1998 -- Alesis Corporation announces new pricing for two ADAT Type II 20-bit recorders, the XT20 and the LX20. On July 1, 1998, the suggested retail price of the XT20 dropped from $2999 to $2599 (US), while the economical LX20 dropped from $2249 to $1899. The new LX20 pricing marks the first time an Alesis ADAT recorder has been made available under the $2000 price point. According to Alex Nelson, Alesis national sales manager, "The Alesis ADAT has become the world's most successful professional multirack recorder due to its winning combination of incredible value, superb audio quality and intuitive ease of use. With this pricing change, Alesis is ensuring that our customers are not forced to compromise their craft by turning to a lower-quality recording system in an effort to save a relatively small amount of money. "Now, with the reduced prices on our most advanced ADAT recorders to date, musicians and studio owners can enjoy the benefits of true 20-bit linear, uncompressed digital recording at a cost that's comparable with many less-advanced digital disk-based systems."
