Apogee SessionTools 1.5

July 10, 1998 -- Apogee Electronics Corporation of Santa Monica, CA, is now shipping the latest version of SessionTools - the recording studio management software package for Macintosh and Windows systems*.

SessionTools was developed by renowned award-winning engineer Bob Clearmountain and his second engineer Ryan Freeland to meet the needs of his own mixing facility, Mix This! "With the number of projects I work on every year," says Clearmountain, "I need my sessions to be completely organized. That's why we developed SessionTools. It takes care of everything, from the client database, work orders, recall sheets, invoices and bookings to track sheets, tape library, box and media labels."

SessionTools is a cross-platform, network-aware studio management database application designed for both Macintosh and Windows (3.x, 95 and NT) computers*. It offers a series of layouts with comprehensive features for nearly every aspect of the operation of a modern recording or mixing facility, including:

  • A full client database, bookings forms, and work orders
  • Asks all the questions that need to be answered when taking a booking
  • Organizes studio operations with or without an assistant engineer
  • Materials and hours logging, including customizable multiple rates and lockout provisions
  • Tape Library management including source location, storage, format and shipping destination and information
  • Comprehensive invoicing capability referenced by project: calls up all worksheets associated with a project and derives complete invoices and other paperwork, including handling sales tax calculations and other provisions.
  • Media labeling including standard tape boxes, DAT, CD-R, Apogee MasterPak & ProjectPak, and other formats
  • Track sheets, rental equipment tracking and outboard equipment recall sheets
  • Many automatic features and pop-up lists to simplify studio paperwork and minimize typing.

The application also includes special customization options, such as the ability to include company details and logo to be used in all sections of the system. The new SessionTools v1.5, with new and improved expanded layouts, is available for the Apple Macintosh on CD-ROM, with a suggested retail price of $349. The CD-ROM is also available from Apogee as a time-limited demo version with full electronic documentation. Owners of the demo disc can upgrade to the full version by buying an authorization and printed manual.

*Macintosh version now shipping - SessionTools for Windows 3.x/95/98/NT is expected later in the year.
