Horizon Music Introduces the Digital SnakeJuly 10, 1998 -- Horizon Music's new Digital Snake represents a dramatic break through in digital technology. Patent pending pro audio-video "digital" medium is now available at an affordable price. The Digital Snake is composed of two single-rack-space units. The A-to-D unit uses 24-bit processing supporting CD Audio rate of 441k or Pro Audio rate of 48k sample rates. The I/O consists of 8 XLR on the back of the unit selectable at mic or line level balanced audio inputs. Other, pro level features include, switchable 48 volt phantom power for each channel, variable gain control, 8 segment LED display with peak indicator and a switchable internal / external clock The Patented microphone amplification section features a noise floor of -120db. The 24-bit D-to-A unit is interconnected via a DB25 connector This enables the A-to-D portion of the snake or digital audio workstation to connect directly using S/PDIF or AES/EBU formats. The analogue outputs are split into two discrete eight channel TRS 114 pro level outputs, allowing all channels to be directed to both the main and a monitor console. The interconnect between each unit is a pro level digital cable terminated to a DB25 connector utilizing either S/PDIF or AES/EBU formats at the user's preference. Fan-outs are available with either XLR or RCA for use as a front end to a digital audio workstation. This product may be purchased as a complete unit, or separate components.
