New Duallist Double Bass Pedal for One Foot
July 10, 1998 -- New from Scotland... The Mac Robert Corporation introduces the Duallist, a patented double bass pedal for one foot. Winner of the John Logie Baird Award For Invention, this innovative pedal features two beaters -- one plays when the pedal is pressed down and the other plays when the pedal is up. So when you play straight 8th notes with your foot, you get 16th notes. One beater can be switched off, using a simple lever footswitch on the side of the pedal, allowing the pedal to be played like a regular single beater pedal. A similar switch on the other side of the pedal switches back to both beaters. The Duallist is built from a strong Dupont polymer and is extremely lightweight. It features a four-way beater with wood, felt, and two plastic surfaces. The pedal features a variety of adjustments. A sliding clamp to the bass drum allows the distance between the pedal and head to be set. The spring angle, beater angle, pulley angle, strap length setting, and pulley displacement angle are all also fully user-adjustable. The Duallist has a suggested retail price of $599.
