New Technics SX-KN930 Keyboard

July 10, 1998 -- Technics keyboards - heralded for their PCM technology - have just been upgraded. Capable of producing tried-and-true, realistic piano and string instrument sounds as with the previous version, the new Technics SX-KN930 keyboard adds a variety of contemporary sounds to the musical mix - including drums, saxophone, guitar sections and more - to help musicians expand their musical repertoire.

The new keyboard uses an advance sound processor to deliver high quality, Dynamic PCM (Pulse Code Modulation) sounds as they were meant to be heard. Providing 200 preset sounds - including piano, vocal, strings, drum kits and a variety of other musical sound groups - and 32-note polyphony, the SX-KN930 helps you set the appropriate tone and backdrop for each musical arrangement.

The keyboard offers 128 rhythm choices, each with four variations, making it ideal for use at weddings, birthday celebrations and other festive occasions. The keyboard includes all the current hot beats, such as Latin, Reggae and party dance rhythms, assuring that your audience will get up on their feet. Intros, endings and fill-in variations give any tune a professional polish.

The SX-KN930 fosters both novice and accomplished performers with a wide variety of useful features. Composer lets users create and store up to three different works of up to 10,000 notes each. Additionally, a 16-track, 30,000-note sequencer will meet the needs of most songwriters.

The keyboard is highlighted by a large, backlit LCD display, which keeps the musician informed in real time of all instrument settings. This display shows instrument groups and sound parameters, and provides visual confirmation of the operating features.

The keyboard also features Sound Arranger, which automatically sets up orchestrations based on the rhythm in use, and Style Arranger which allows you to easily change the sound of any accompaniment pattern.

The unit's 61-key, Initial Touch keyboard will immediately feel comfortable to most users. As on an acoustic piano, the volume of the sound heard is proportional to how hard the keys are pressed. Providing this model with a fresh, aesthetically pleasing look, this keyboard features a new cabinet design that boasts the look of precious metal.

The power bass speaker system boasts a bass reflex port for truly convincing, deep bass. The mid and high ranges come across with substance and brilliance for a totally captivating sound.

A built-in, 3.5 inch floppy disk drive lets users easily store finished and in-progress compositions, as well as original sounds and all programmable features. And, although fully MIDI compatible, this model uses a standard PC terminal for connection to a computer without the need for MIDI cables. With direct play of SMF (formats 0/1) data, and compatibility with GM, SMF music data, and the formats of major computer manufacturers, software choice is virtually unlimited.
