Audio-Technica Introduces New KP-Drums KitPackA prepackaged set of microphones specifically designed for drum and percussion instruments
July 23, 1999 -- Audio-Technica has eliminated the guesswork in choosing the right microphone for drums and percussion with the introduction of the new KP-Drums KitPak set of microphones. The KP-Drums KitPak is a set of four microphones designed by Audio-Technica engineers for the precise reproduction of drum and percussion instruments in live and recording applications. The KP-Drums KitPak consists of four microphones, (two "Snare/Tom" mics, and two "Kick/Tom" mics), specifically engineered for drum miking, packaged in a durable, protective carrying case. The Audio-Technica Snare/Tom mic features a moving coil dynamic design with cardioid polar pattern for accurate reproduction of snare and rack toms. This allows the mic to focus on the desired sound location - such as the "sweet spot" of the drum head -- while controlling feedback and isolation between sound sources. In addition, the Snare/Tom mic has a frequency response of 100-12,000 Hz with the ability to handle fast transients and high SPLs . Audio-Technica's Kick/Tom microphone also features a moving coil dynamic design with cardioid polar pattern and has a frequency response of 60-12,000 Hz. This combination, plus the mic's ability to handle high SPLs, enables the Kick/Tom microphone to deliver superior results on bass drum, as well as floor and "deep" rack toms. The KP-DRUMS KitPak mics feature all-metal construction, built-in adjustable stand mounting and a low-profile design for minimum visibility and versatile placement around the drum kit. Output is via a three-pin professional XLRM-type connector. In addition, a durable, protective carrying case and bonus drum key are included. The Audio-Technica KP-DRUMS KitPak is available immediately and has a suggested retail price of $259.00. Originally established as the independent U.S. distributor for Audio-Technica brand phonograph cartridges and related products, A.T.U.S. was founded in 1972 and has grown to be a leading manufacturer and distributor of microphones, headphones, mixers and electronics for the professional audio industry.
