New VF-1 Multi-Effects from Boss

July 26, 1999 -- Built in the tradition of the now-legendary SE-50 and SE-70 Stereo Effects Processors, the new BOSS VF-1 24-Bit Multiple Effects Processor is a compact, ultra-powerful, extremely musical multi-effects processor with applications ranging from project studios to guitar rigs, live sound racks, DJ setups and more. This affordable 24-bit powerhouse features lush reverb, delay, chorus, guitar and COSM-based effects derived from Roland's legendary VG-8 V-Guitar System, V-Studio workstations, and BOSS effects products-easily making it BOSS' most powerful and flexible effects processor ever.

Much of the musical power of the half-rack sized VF-1 stems from Roland's proprietary COSM sound modeling technology. Previously only available in high-end products, such as the VG-8 V-Guitar System and V-Studio workstations, COSM Guitar Amp Modeling and Mic Modeling technology expands the VF-1's sonic possibilities by providing instant access to various guitar amp and microphone "models"-each with comprehensive editing capabilities.

The VF-1's sonic performance is far beyond other processors in its class. Incorporating 24-bit AD/DA converters and 30-bit internal processing, it offers 400 Patches (200 Preset, 200 User) of the highest quality which can be quickly selected via the unit's Category Search function and easily edited and stored. Patches range from guitar and bass multi-effects to keyboard multi-effects, high-quality vocal effects, DJ/groove-oriented effects, extensive reverb, delay, and chorus processing and more.

A dedicated high-impedance guitar input allows direct connection from a guitar or bass, while an easy-to-read, built-in chromatic tuner allows tuning without unplugging. Stereo input/output jacks with selectable +4/-10dB operation are offered for serial or parallel effects processing. For digital recording environments, such as Roland's popular V-Studio workstations or compact V-Mixing Stations, the VF-1 offers a coaxial digital output to keep its signal processing in the digital domain.

An optional RAD-50 Rackmount Adapter is offered for rack or studio mounting applications. An optional MIDI footswitch controller like the FC-200 can be used for hands-free changing of Patches during performance and for realtime parameter control. Full MIDI In/Out functionality is offered for remote operation or Patch storage.
