DeArmond Announces X-135 and S-65 Guitars
July 26, 1999 -- DeArmond will reach out to a wide range of guitarists this summer with the introduction of two new and affordable guitars at the NAMM convention in Nashville, Tennessee. Expanding upon both its line of hollow-body jazz guitars and solid-body bolt-neck guitars, DeArmond is proud to present the X-135 and the S-65, offering guitarists quality alternatives to the ever growing market of look alike guitar lines. DeArmond X-135Adding to its line of hollow-body jazz guitars this summer, DeArmond will introduce the X-135. The X-135 is solid choice of guitar for working musicians, jazz enthusiasts and students who appreciate quality design and optimal tone, but who also know the meaning of the word "value". The X-135 is a single cutaway, hollow-body archtop guitar that is based on DeArmond's venerable X-155 body shape, but with just a single American-made DeArmond Goldtone Humbucking pickup in the neck position. The success of the X-155 has far exceeded original expectations, making clear the fact that the market for affordable, quality archtop guitars is growing ever stronger. With the introduction of the new X-135, DeArmond has expanded on its line of jazz guitars and adds a greater variety of alternatives to the more costly jazz guitar manufacturers. The X-135 is made with a maple top, back and sides, and has a maple neck with rosewood fingerboard. To highlight its natural aesthetics, the X-135 has a cream colored body binding and pearl "dot" inlays. The fingerboard radius of the X-135 is 12", and features 22 jumbo nickel silver frets. One volume and one tone control, die-cast chrome machine heads, and a rosewood bridge with DeArmond's "harp" style tailpiece are the finishing touches on this beautiful and versatile guitar. Production of the X-135 began in April of 1999, with order input available as of June 7, 1999. Available colors for the X135 are Natural and Antique Burst. United States MSRP for the X-135 is $849.99, or $979.98 with a case. DeArmond S-65For enthusiasts of solid-body guitars with the popular bolt-on neck configuration, DeArmond offers its new S-65 guitar. This is an all new body shape for DeArmond, which features a double cutaway and a flat-top, and is sure to attract fans of Guild's well known model S-100. The S-65 is a great guitar for beginners who are looking for not only the edgy style of the pointed double cutaway, but also for the powerful crunch that comes with a solidbody guitar equipped with humbucker pickups. The solid agathis body emits a deep and rich tone, while at the same time emphasizing the guitar's long lasting sustain. Add to that the S-65's dual DeArmond chrome-covered humbuckers, and you've got a guitar worthy of the power line-ups that dominated the 1970's, as well as keep up with the hottest alternative acts of today. Moreover, the S-65's MSRP of only $329.99 will allow aspiring musicians to own a quality guitar while honing their skills for the stage. The S-65 features a nato neck with rosewood fingerboard and "block" inlays. The two DeArmond humbucker pickups are controlled by two volume and tone knobs, and the different configurations can be alternated via the 3-way switching system. The S-65 has a Guild stop tailpiece with a Adjust-O-Matic style bridge. Available colors for the S-65 are Crimson Red Transparent, Vintage White, or Pewter Gray. Production on the S-65 began in June of 1999, and is available for order input as of June 7, 1999. For more information on DeArmond products, visit www.dearmondguitars.com.
