July 26, 1999 -- The newest offering in the popularly priced Drawmer MX Series is the MX60 Front End One. A unique mic/line/instrument input channel in a single rack space unit providing the professional user with everything they need for processing prior to tape/disc/hard drive. Other applications include project studios and live sound applications. Functioning as a studio grade mic preamplifier, three-band EQ, gate, de-esser, compressor, limiter, and a unique three-band "tube modeling" stage, the Drawmer MX60 is poised to offer users more options than competitive units currently available.

The new MX60 Front End One draws its technology from the most successful of Drawmer products. The mic preamp features the same componentry found in the legendary Drawmer 1960, the de-esser is from the MX50, and the compressor, peak limiter and gate roots originate in the venerable DL24 1. A threeband equalizer provides shelving high and low sections with a sweepable mid-band EQ stage.

A new Drawmer MX60 innovation is the "tube modeling" section providing variable "valve sound." "Tube Sound" allows users to create subtle warming, high frequency effects or out-and-out obvious effects via three separate, independently adjustable audio bands. All function indicators are LEDs except the Male/Female switch on the de-esser.

The input stage may be switched to accept mic-line or instrument-level signals. A further instrument input is provided on the front panel for use with sources that require a high impedance input stage, as in electric guitars and basses. The output stage includes a limiter with a preset threshold and a two-stage soft then hard knee for progressive control.

"Rather than throw a bunch of stuff in a box, Drawmer has taken the best of the entire Drawmer product line and created a very low cost and efficient way to get signals into any kind of audio system or recorder. Ivor Drawmer is quite particular about how his product sounds and perhaps the MX60's only weakness will be a tendency to not be taken seriously due to its affordable price," commented Brad Lunde, President of Transamerica Audio Group, Drawmer's USA Distributor. "Processing both voice and instruments for recordings, broadcasts or live performances, the MX60 puts legitimate higher end performance and sound quality within reach of just about anyone."
