Electro-Voice Introduces PolarChoice(TM) Microphones

July 23, 1999 -- Electro-Voice will redefine podium microphone performance with the introduction of PolarChoice™, the newest members of its popular Architectural Microphone Series, at the Summer NAMM Convention. These podium-mounted mics offer four polar patterns in one head to fit every acoustic situation and will set the new technological standard in the marketplace.

The PolarChoice, are gooseneck, quick-mount, electret microphones (12-inch and 18-inch versions) that are designed to overcome the limitations of a single polar pattern encountered with single transducer microphones.

"The PolarChoice™, Series is a solution to many acoustic problems encountered with podium mounted microphones," says Charlie Winkler, director of marketing and sales for EV microphone products. "PolarChoice's dual-transducer design provides two unique benefits not realized in a single transducer design." The first and most important benefit is the ability to select the optimum polar pattern for the installation. The installer may rotate a recessed switch to choose from an Omnidirectional, Cardioid, Supercardioid or Hypercardiold polar pattern. The second benefit is the four polar patterns have an identical on-axis response. The installer does not have to adjust the equalizer after changing patterns, and there is no difference in the "sound" of the microphone.

The overall benefit is the ability to customize the microphone on the job site by selecting the optimal pattern for the application.

Acoustically designed for high-quality sound reproduction with a 75 to 15,000 Hz frequency response, PolarChoice, provides an exceptional and consistent on-axis response independent of the polar response. The PolarChoice's electronic circuitry provides exceptional performance over a phantom voltage range of 9 to 52 VDC (DIN Standard 45 596). The all-steel, machined microphone housing provides ruggedness and superior EMI/RF attenuation, while the small-diameter gooseneck has two supple joints and a rigid center tube preventing unsightly twisting of the gooseneck. The microphone is terminated with a standard professional three-pin, XLR-type connector. The PolarChoice's 200 Ohm output impedance allows a long microphone cable run.

"We include a windscreen with the PolarChoice, and offer the FMK Flange Mount Kit and the CPSM Shock Mount Kit as options," explains Winkler. PolarChoice(TM), will be an important player in its market and is uniquely qualified to dominate."
