Electro-Voice Introduces Sx100+ Portable Speaker System

July 23, 1999 -- Electro-Voice introduces the Sx100+ 200-watt two-way portable speaker system at the Summer NAMM Convention. The advanced design of the Sx100+ system combines superior speaker performance with a rugged, molded polypropylene structural foam cabinet, yielding a portable, easy-to-mount system with great sound.

"The Sx100+ is yet another EV product which includes EV's innovative Ring-Mode Decoupling (RMD™), and this makes a very big difference in performance," says Mike Torlone, director of music products marketing for Electro-Voice. "With all this technology, the Sx100+ boasts an ultra-affordable list price of just $5 18."

The Sxl00+ is a two-way lightweight speaker design incorporating a 12-inch woofer and one-inch exit compression driver with integral horn, yielding an axial frequency response of 80 to 25,000 Hz. Long term power handling is rated at 200 watts with a maximum woofer acoustic output of 7.8 watts and a system sensitivity of 99.5dB for one watt/one meter. The high-impact polypropylene structural-foam cabinet uses EV's exclusive Ring-Mode Decoupling (RMD) that eliminates ring mode vibrations to yield excellent clarity and sonic reproduction accuracy.

Input connections are made via two paralleled 1/4-inch phone jacks, which allows paralleling of multiple speakers. Impedance levels are 8 ohms nominal, 5.6 ohms minimum. The compact Sx100+ is only 586 min (23.1-inches) H x 429 mm (16.9-inches) W x 312 min (12.3-inches) D. Net weight of the unit is 14.5 kg (32 lb). The system comes in both black and white colors (Sx100+ and Sx100+W, respectively).

Other products available for enhancing the Sx100+ system's performance include the Xp200A system controller, Sb121 nonpowered bass module, Sb121a 400-watt powered bass module and a wide range of mounting kit accessories including compatibility with OmniMount® Series 100 mounting hardware (available through OmniMount Systems, Inc.).
