Generalmusic Offers New Avalon Series LoudspeakersJuly 23, 1999 -- Generalmusic/LEM announces the Summer NAMM '99 launch of its new compact, easily portable Avalon Series loudspeakers. Avalon systems deliver high efficiency and exceptional sound quality, making them perfect for a wide variety of band/club PA and permanent install applications. Avalon Series speakers are available in both powered and unpowered versions. The passive lineup consists of three different models: the AV-12, AV-15 and AV-15S. The AV-12 features a one-inch EWT high-frequency driver, 12-inch woofer and power handling of 200 watts, while the AV-15 pairs the same HF driver with a 15-inch woofer and 350-watt power handling. The AV-15S subwoofer is identical to the AV-15 minus the HF driver. Active versions of each model, designated with the letter 'A' (AV-12A, AV-15A and AV-15SA), are equipped with powerful and reliable amplifiers matching their power handlings and anti-clipping circuitry. The AV-15SA additionally features the inclusion of a stereo crossover. Sporting a stylish European design, Avalon Series cabinets are made of High Density Polypropylene (HDPE) and are constructed using a double skin molding technique. This allows the enclosures to be both very lightweight and exceptionally durable, as well as provides an optimal balance between stiffness and elasticity for the best acoustics. The specially designed shape of the cabinets also permits them to be used horizontally as floor monitors. Avalon cabinets use an improved version of LEM's proprietary EWT horn, which ensures a linear response and a crisp, high fidelity sound, while top quality custom woofers are used to provide the best efficiency in the low frequency range. A large aluminum handle on the back of each enclosure allows easy transport and can accept several different accessories for flying and installation. The Avalon Series also represents an incredible value at the following US retail prices:
