July 23, 1999 -- Based on the style and construction of a Les Paul Standard, Gibsons announces the new Les Paul Bass (LPB-3). The newly redesigned LPB-3 features a carved maple top, chambered mahogany body, and ebony fingerboard with TB Plus pickups. Finally, a deep, rich lacquer finish brings the traditional, translucent sunburst colors to life. .
