Kellar Bass Systems Announces Jam Bass(TM) Price Reduction

July 26, 1999 -- Palo Alto-headquartered Kellar Bass Systems reduced the list price of its novel Jam Bass Musical Instrument and MIDI Controller from $379 to $299, a reduction of 20%. "We achieved the objectives of the product introduction phase, and are now positioning the product to catch the rising surge of public interest" stated Brad Kellar, company founder.

The Jam Bass is a paper-thin membrane switch which mounts on the back of the guitar neck. Connected to a small circuit pack, it allows musicians to play bass and control MIDI devices with the thumb while they are playing guitar. "Because the Jam Bass is totally unique, it required a stepped market introduction to evaluate customer understanding and acceptance of the product concept" said Kellar. "I am pleased to announce that the performance, reliability, and customer acceptance have met our expectations, so we feel confident that we can now accelerate the product."

Market research showed that customer interest and enthusiasm about the product was exceptionally high, and most felt it would be a great gift for a guitarist. There was also general agreement that the Jam Bass was "very cool" and that most guitarists had at least one guitar they could "hot-rod" with the Jam Bass.

Kellar Bass Systems also announced the Jam Bass Video, which features award winning guitarist Prashant Aswani teaching an introduction to the Jam Bass. The 10-minute tape also illustrates the product installation. It will be included with the Jam Bass and made available to dealers for in-store use as a sales aid. "Our research showed that a video with a star player would enhance understanding and acceptance of the product," Kellar noted.
