Sennheiser Introduces D1000 Digital Wireless Microphone System
July 26, 1999 -- Rolf Meyer, President of the Sennheiser Group, and Alan Needham, President of X-Wire Digital Wireless Systems, announced a cooperation in the area of digital wireless transmission, resulting in the latest innovation in this area: the Digital 1000 Wireless Microphone System. Designed for the USA market, this unit will be distributed and manufactured by Sennheiser, and is guaranteed to deliver the famed quality sound Sennheiser users expect. The Sennheiser Digital 1000 Wireless Microphone System is a four-channel user-selectable unit, operating at 900 MHz ISM frequency band. Internally mounted antennae operate in two independent diversity receiver sections. The digital circuitry of the system eliminates the need for a compander and the audio degradation commonly associated with it. Inputs for optional external antennae accommodate extended range applications. The use of one 9-volt battery makes the transmitter small and lightweight. With extremely low noise, this transmitter including a 1/2 rack space unit receiver is priced at USD 895.00. "This introduction puts Sennheiser in the forefront of digital wireless microphone technology," said Joe Ciaudelli, Sennheiser's Director of Marketing. "We recognized the need for quality digital audio transmission, took the steps to incorporate the finest technologies into this design, and are now poised to deliver the first digital wireless microphone system of this caliber in the marketplace." Targeted to the MI market, the Digital 1000 Wireless system will be available in three versions: handheld, body pack and instrument. Units will begin shipping in the Spring of 1999. Established in 1945 in Wedemark, Germany, Sennheiser is the acknowledged world leader in microphone technology, RF-wireless and infrared sound transmission, headphone transducer technology, and most recently in the development of active noise-cancellation.
