Yamaha Introduces XGWorks V3.0 for Windows

July 23, 1999 -- Yamaha Corporation of America, Pro Audio & Combo Division, Digital Musical Instruments, introduces XGWorks V3.0. Equipped with Yamaha's proprietary XG format-which expands on MIDI and General MIDI standards, adding increased expressiveness, expandability and compatibility-XGWorks V3.0 is positioned to take PC-based music sequencing to the next level, all at the user-friendly price. Advanced sequencing power, with XG technology, has never been so affordable.

"The new features in XGWorks, when combined with support from our new Modular Synthesis Plug-in System, makes the 3.0 an incredible value to a wide range of customers," states Avery Burdette, product manager, Digital Musical Instruments. "The real strength of XGWorks is its ability to maximize the incredible production capabilities of Yamaha's XG platform. V3.0 takes it to the next level at an unbelievable price."

XGWorks V3.0 features a comprehensive XG editor and setup creator, and supports plug-in editor and librarian applications for the PLG 100 VL, VH and DX Series, and the new PLG 150 Series, with the PLG 150AN, PF and XG.

Guitar and bass players will appreciate the XGWorks' Guitar Arranger. This handy tool uses fret numbers and keys to display the chords on a virtual fretboard-with open tunings-and also includes such articulations as hammer-ons, pulloffs, slides, whammy-bar action and bottlenecking. Even purists will find it hard to deny the realism of XGWorks' guitar and bass features.

The Voice To Score® feature allows users to sing, hum or play an instrumental melody into a connected microphone and then have that information be instantly converted to a notation staff as well as MIDI data. Auto Arranger automatically creates musically correct chord progressions and complete backing tracks, producing professional-quality results.

XGWorks V3.0 now supports the following notation formats: Single Staff (concert key and transposed by instrument), Grand Staff, Triple Tier (organ format), and Guitar and Bass Tablature with or without chord symbols.

One hundred tracks-MIDI, Wave, Style and Chord-and a possible 9,999 possible measures are standard fare with the XGWorks, creating a highly flexible sequencing environment. Users will be hard pressed to run out of track space and arrangement possibilities. XGWorks also supports 6 MIDI ports by 16 MIDI channels and 6 stereo audio ports (12 mono tracks) for added expandability and mixing power. MIDI tracks can be recorded in real- or step time, while audio tracks can be recorded in mono or stereo.
